Idk what to do this summer-incoming Princeton Student

Hey guys, I'm currently a high school senior and will be attending Princeton next year, probably majoring in ORFE. In terms of long term ambitions, I'm interested in trading (preferably a more quantitative role), HF, mayyybe quant (although I'm not sure how well I'd fare compared to others since I'm not an IMO level genius), and IB.

I'm not really sure what to do this summer, but I'd like to try for an internship--I know it's pretty late to apply and I'm not really sure what I'd be applying for since I'm not technically in college yet--but I'd like to get an early start to internships + I'm bored and need something to do. Does anyone have advice as to what internships to pursue (like boutique firms in my home city?) and how to go about getting one.

congrats on princeton. good school. idk, you don't have to get work experience so young. why not live a little? go travelling. work in a cocktail bar. finally manage to suck your own dick like you're been trying to for so long (pro tip: place your feet on the wall for leverage).

hope that helps

yeah legit. try not to break your neck though - it will be embarrassing for your mum to find your corpse like that.

If I see another post from a HIGH SCHOOLER I might actually go jump off a cliff. This is nuts!

Plenty of time to grind while in college and afterwards - enjoy your last summer of high school. Party, date around, spend time with your friends, etc.

If I see another post from an INTERN I might actually go jump off a cliff. This is nuts!

As someone who had an internship the summer before college, it has really helped me. I would suggest reaching out to anyone you know at a smaller financial firm and asking if they have any flexibility in hiring interns.

As someone who also did, it’s pretty much useless long term. You have no relevant knowledge, probably won’t be paid, and by the time you are applying for meaningful work, you won’t even have enough space in your resume for it. Seriously, I know you want to get a jump on things, but this is a period of your life you will never get back, and it only goes downhill from here as far as free time goes. There’s a reason people get so mad at these posts, and I think that’s partially because there are so many high school hardos who simply don’t understand that banking is not everything, and can’t get it through their heads that they will probably regret not having some fun while they can.

Finance queen @Mrsdowjones on Instagram is looking for interns. Slide into her DMs! I'm sure the banks will appreciate you gaining finmeme experience to truly understand industry culture.
