I'm Lost. Help
Hi,
So this last recruiting season I have been focusing on consulting firms and have gotten to a couple final rounds, only to be cut at the end. The recruiting season is over and this process has really taken a toll on me. As far as I'm concerned now, I'm all out of options. I have an economics/analytically/research background with some business development, finance, and tech thrown in there. I'm not sure what my next step should be now.
Of course when spring rolls around I'll be keeping my eye on my campus career website, but really what are the chances I land a decent job now? I was pretty dead set on consulting so now that I completely missed the mark on that, I'm not sure where I should turn my attention to. Are there any other fields I should be looking at? Will I even be able to find a job at this rate?
I guess I just need some sort of direction, any insight would be helpful really.
Thanks.
I am in a similar position as you. I am a May 2012 graduate who had a six month internship after graduation as a Investment banking analyst in public finance and since it has been hard to find work since the internship ended- not a lot of transferable skills, networking hasn't yield any results. Interviews I went to ended up going with an internal transfer. Its a tough out there. I suggest you take any offer you can get so you have a job when you graduate but keep on applying for your dream job. Its better to have something than nothing.
I know this isn't what you were hoping to hear, but just know its a bleak job market.
If all fails, join the military and try for an MBA I might end up going that route.
@"TheKid1" Ah I see. This job market sucks doesnt it. Haha, if only I had offers to accept. > Anywhoo, I don't think the military is for me and I want to try to put MBA off as much as possible, would really like to get a job first. I guess just cold-emailing and stuff is my only way to go, and hope that something works out in the end.
Good Luck to both of us. But this shit sucks >
