Incoming Humanities Junior -- Looking for Some Advice!

Hi WSO,

I'm pretty new here, so pardon any spelling errors or lack of technical lingo. I'm posting because I'm in a bit of a tough spot right now. I'm an incoming junior at a target (?) school in the T10 range and I'm trying to break into finance generally. For context, I'm a political science major with a business minor and I've had two internships so far: one was with an entrepreneur at a search fund (who was looking to buy a company) and the other was at a very well-known law firm as a business development summer intern. I'm also fairly involved on campus with multiple E Board roles and good grades (>3.8 GPA). However, I'm feeling a lot of pressure right now because I do not have a finance internship lined up for next summer, and I could really use some advice!

A little backstory on how I got here: I was once pre-law (hence the poli sci major) and then transferred from a T35 school to where I am now. I only realized that I wanted to do business in sophomore year, and my advisor told me that doing Econ was not a wise idea given how much time I had left. I also did not have the best luck with some transfer credit stuff, and my high school did not do APs. I've tried out for a bunch of business clubs but only got into one, and I do not really have a mentor. As far as family connections go, I only have one family member who is in finance; the rest are in other irrelevant industries, but I do have some family friends who may be able to help.

Here's my question: where do I go from here? I've come up with a few ideas, but any and all suggestions are helpful. Option 1: I start networking furiously right now and (if I'm lucky) get something for next summer maybe in consulting if not finance. Option 2: I extend my graduation by one year and add an Econ major (my college does not have a business/finance major) and essentially become a sophomore again. Option 3: whatever y'all suggest. Maybe a one-year master's in management or something else entirely? Like I said, I appreciate any advice you all have for me.

Sincerely,

One very stressed out student
