Int. Students Beware of new H1B rules

International Students - beware of USCIS RFEs on lottery selected H1Bs and outright rejections because your job is not specialized enough. We can all agree that some Indian IT Firms were abusing H1Bs on a large scale, and some enforcement was long overdue - but the pendulum has swung in the other direction.

I think they are checking whether your major is related to your job as well. So in the past, you could have majored in History and Mechanical Engineering and worked on on Wall St, but now it seems like those H1Bs petitions might get rejected.

There's also talk of new OPT rules. Looks like it's going to be a rough 3-4 years for International Students going forward.

I can confirm this (unfortunately). Kinda stuck now.

Cant even try to move somewhere at home, since no professional network/campus recruiting option.
