Internship in Central Florida advice
I am a transfer student heading into my juior year at USF, in Florida not San Fran, and majoring in finance and economics. I am trying to start networking now so that I can land an internship in the summer of 2013. I don't have any previous banking internships/experience (just part-time retail jobs to help pay for school). Which banks in the Tampa Bay, FL area would be best to focus on while trying to get an internship for the 2013 summer considering I have no prior banking interships?
Also, would it be wise to seek out a shorter internship for the spring semester or should I just focus on school, and preparing for the summer?
Thank you in advance for any advice or tips!

Adjust settings to your specifics needs, it's a start.
Also, I'd say find a spring internship if you could. With no work experience at a non-target you have a long way to go to make ground and a .1 increase in your GPA really won't make as much of a difference.
Wow, that is a great resource! I'm brand new to this site so I probably should have looked around a little more before I posted, but thank you.
Well, the major players in the south are SunTrust, Stephens, and BB&T so you might want to consider those. Any BB opportunity will likely be BO in Jacksonville. You want a prestigious job, not necessarily a prestigious name.
Yes, I agree that a prestigious job would be better. I did make it sound like I was looking for the best, which isn't necessarily bad, but I did mean which bank would be the best for my situation

Well, I am not trying to imply that others aren't, but I am very much interested in the career and its path. The bonus of a big name is just that, a bonus. I know we all want to work for the best names possible but there has to be some enjoyment for the job and what the job is doing, right?
pm me
CK, I will pm you asap when I have enough points. Talk to you soon.
RayJ and Baird are in Tampa. There are actually quite a few boutiques in St Pete and Tampa area.
OP, how the hell are you already up to 534 points, 256 SB, and 243 MS when you haven't even been a member for a full 5 days???
To be honest, I have no clue! Last night I looked into buying some SB's so I could try to pm CK, but I decided to wait until this morning to figure it out and when I signed on the coffers were full ha! I keep waiting to see that it was some clerical error and they are gone but it hasnt happened yet. I am searching the site to figure out if someone gave them to me or something, but I haven't come across anything that would indicate that, so I literally have no idea.
Baird has a transportation group in Tampa. They recruit locally. RJF would be a good shot, but most of their IB groups are not in the Bay Area. If you can manage it, take the spring internship as well. It might be tough to swing at USF though given its distance from the action. I currently live in Tampa so shoot me a PM and we can talk more.
