Interview Feedback - Thoughts?

I need some thoughts on a final round interview I recently had (~2 days ago). I'm a 1st year associate at an investment bank and looking to lateral to a boutique to help build their investment banking practice.

I met with a fairly senior person at the firm (not focused on investment banking but helps out when he can) which I think is the final interview.

The first half of the conversation was mostly Q&A, just him firing off questions about my deals and experience. It was definitely not conversational and more of just rapid fire questioning. He had a blank stare, just staring at me, and had no response to any of the questions I was answering. Felt pretty uncomfortable but kept my composure and doubt he was even listening / paying attention to what I was saying. He was also yawning and distracted, which seemed understandable since it was an afternoon interview.

But the second half where I started to ask him questions, he started opening up more on the position and the company. At the end, he said they'd have me back in the office and wanted me to say hello the another team member I spoke with before I left, but he was out of the office that day. He also mentioned they weren't interviewing many candidates and whether or not the other team member had started reaching out for references.

What do you guys think about this? Part of me thinks he was just messing with me at the beginning, to make me uncomfortable and how I could deal with the pressure. Also it could be just how busy he was during the day.

Who knows but just curious what your thoughts are. Has this happened to any of you before?

There are some guys (especially in finance i guess) that, when interviewing you, love to put you under pressure & act like they find you uninteresting just to see how you react. Had two interviews like this with senior ppl (MD, Partner) and I left with mixed feelings (& not really optimistic). However I got an offer in both cases.

But you never know. Being nice at the end of the interview is a good sign tho.
