Interviewing while unemployed. What to say to interviewer.

I have been in a process since a few months. I have done several modelling test etc. already.

Since the process started I have been let go. At the time when I applied for the firm I was still employed. The firm already confirmed that I am in the final stages of the process.

I am now wondering if a) should volunteer and tell the interviewer that I have been laid off and the employment date on CV is inaccurate? b) if I am asked how I like it at my current form, should I say „it’s good / I learned a lot?“. I feel like the firm could hold that against me as intentionally misleading? c) is there even a way for the firm to find out? They won’t reach out to current employer, but during the background check it might seem weird if my CV says employed but my reference check says that k have left the firm a few weeks prior

For reference by the time I will finish the process a few weeks (less than two months) a post employment will have happened.

Background check is 99% of the time just checking if you're a criminal. I wouldn't volunteer the information. Get the offer and then do a vibe check on them if you really must get it off your chest. Once you have an offer, they'll just want you to accept, and if they're decent people, they'll appreciate the honesty. But at this stage, there's not much upside.

If your last job ended within the same month of the new start date, I wouldn't mention it. The hiring forms usually make this question specific, e.g. they ask for gaps that are two months or longer. And even then you can explain it.

Like stated before, I wouldn't volunteer any information.
