Interviews during full time job

How do you ask your boss for time off to attend interviews without them suspecting you're doing interviews? I'm in my first process and feel extremely guilty every time I have to pretend I have a doctor's appointment to go to an interview.

It's awkward but while people can try to stop you, it's typically quite hard to literally force you not to. Depending on how busy things are and how big your team is, your absence might not be noticed as much as it feels like (there's a big spotlight effect with this kind of thing).

Couple of suggestions would be to (1) schedule your interviews at lunchtime or early mornings if possible, and (2) apartment view is a great excuse.

At some point you might need to use some holiday or sick leave, but defer to you.

Do what you have to do.

End of the day, if the firm doesn’t make money, you’re getting laid off.

As to how to do it - schedule your interviews in the morning or as late as possible in the evening.

If you have a WFH day, burn those.

I would say that you should limit the number of processes you’re in to firms that you would accept if given an offer. No point in wasting time for firms that you’re so so on.

From there, then I would prioritize your top choice firms. If they give a time, you got to go do it. Fake a cough, fake a death, just do it. Life is better when you know you’re done
