Is 9:45 am a little too late in the morning to send an after interview thank you email?

Assuming that your first round interview was yesterday afternoon, would it look like you don’t wake up early enough if you send a thank you email around 9:45 in the morning? Should I have sent my thank you email an hour earlier?

You already made a mistake. You send a hand written note and mail it the same day as your interview so it gets there a few days later. People remember that.

Make fun of me if you want. I interviewed a 22 year old girl at my firm. She wrote a thank you note to every person she met at the firm- probably eight in total. You bet your ass she got the job.

Real meta thing is to mail the note 2 days BEFORE your interview, schedule your interview in the morning and then have the notes be delivered by the mail carrier just as you leave at noon.

It's not, if anything the rule is the same as for dating. You don't want to seem too eager but you also don't want to seem too blasé about it. So send a personalised email the next day along the lines of 'hello, thanks for giving me the opportunity to interview, no matter what happens to my application it really was a pleasure to interview with you and I hope we can stay in touch'. Someone said handwritten card and I think that would be more appropriate for ACs or for professional recruitment processes but I definitely agree that's a more personal touch and more appreciated. Make sure to use nice quality cards for it.
