Is IB worth it in my situation?

I'm currently a senior FP&A analyst at a F500 credit card company, and I have a little over 4 YOE from FP&A and public accounting (with a CPA). I thought FP&A was something I wanted to do long term, but I'm hating how cyclical this job gets. The role, as well as the majority of FP&A roles within my company, doesn't have much value-add, strategic work. Instead, it's just filled with too much month-end BS like variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and slide decks. I realize that I'd rather do something like Corp Dev instead where the work is more project based and creates much more value and impact enterprise wide. I understand that the hours are more unpredictable and likely more intense in Corp Dev, but I'm willing to deal with it. I rather work longer hours in something I enjoy than fewer hours in something I dislike.

From my understanding, it's pretty unlikely for me to break into Corp Dev given my lack of M&A/IB experience. I'm seriously considering getting an MBA in hopes of becoming an IB associate and accelerating my career. I see myself doing IB for about 2-3 years before switching back to industry in a Corp Dev role. I also would think that the MBA would enable me to get promotions to higher positions because I have the degree.

TDLR: Is it worth getting an MBA to do IB to just end up in Corp Dev if I'm already in FP&A?
