ask to take the mid term early and go in person contingent upon that

Okay, I'm going to talk to my professor again. Does it really matter (ex. put me at a disadvantage) if I do video instead?

that ticked me off - literally never heard of a BB flying in international candidates for intern positions. Superdays with the local team/Skype interviews is pretty much the norm. If they offer to fly you in, you pretty much have to accept (or, if you are not motivated, decline the superday).

I would say that there's one major disadvantage to flying in: jet lag. If you can't sleep on the plane and can't fly in a few days early, you could be very jet lagged, which obviously puts you at a mental disadvantage.

Fly in to the superday - literally. Find out approximately where in the building your interviews are supposed to begin, and then parachute from a small plane at an angle such that you crash through the glass wall and tumble up to your first interviewer, unhooking your parachute and offering your hand for a firm shake all in one smooth motion. That kind of dramatic entrance will earn you some brownie points and give you an edge over other candidates
