Key(s) to institutional investment sales?
Keys to success in institutional investment sales?
Long story short, I’ve spent my entire career in asset management at the same firm. Worked pretty hard, had a lot of early success and was promoted pretty quickly.
Fast forward 7 years post grad, I’ve moved across the country to be the VP of sales at the same asset manager. After a year in the role, still feels like I’m scratching my head as much as I was the first day.
Those of you (external wholesalers, BD reps, financial consultants, and investment salesmen) who have been in my shoes, what were your keys to success? Anything obvious? Anything not so obvious? How long until your efforts started to pay off? Any thoughts appreciated.
