Likely No Return Offer - What do I do?

Was recently informed that due to cost-constraints / HR issues, the bank that I am interning for will likely not be giving out return offers to anyone. After working my ass off for this job coming out of a non-target and busting it all summer, this one hurts. Just thinking about all of the setbacks that I overcame to get here and now hearing that I probably have to re recruit in a horrible job market makes me sick. I received positive feedback all summer and was told explicitly that it does not have to do with me. This and my long-term girlfriend breaking up with me a few weeks ago is a lot. TMI there but I am really bummed right now. Any advice / help is appreciated

My advice would be to take a little bit of time after your internship ends to relax/gather yourself. That is a really tough few weeks and you need to get in the right headspace before re recruiting, take a week to relax and be with friends/family. With that being said, talk to senior people in your group and see if they have any advice/opportunities for you. If the bank isn't making returns for something besides performance, there is a good chance that senior people will be willing to help you with other processes. Additionally, start reaching out to connections you have at other banks as summer comes to an end. Every summer banks have kids reneg or they don't hire anyone for performance/other reasons, there will be opportunities and you need to leverage whatever connections you can to get in front of them. Get in the right headspace, get your resume updated and start networking. Best of luck!
