LinkedIn post after reneging?

Was wondering if ppl had input on whether or not to post on LinkedIn about a new role after reneging on another offer? I understand it varies what type of reneging (BB to another BB or MM to BB or sellside to buyside) and what type of role (internship vs FT vs further up) but if u really had a major "upgrade" to your professional trajectory, why not share or celebrate it? Many ppl are against posting on LinkedIn after reneging but WHY NOT? If u could just block everyone from the reneging firm and then make a post celebrating ur success, genuinely what could go wrong with that? More status + more aura + more huzz?

Think with your head and not ego. Relax and focus on how you’ll kill it in your new role, posting on LinkedIn should be last thing on your mind. Well, nowadays people love to show off, which is okay

Was in your shoes.  Don't make a post.  Just be happy with new offer.  Won't increase campus aura, won't increase chances of getting laid, and the people who do keep up with you (likely the part of your network you want impress with post) will just know that you're now a flight risk, if you've already posted the first offer.

IMO, the downsides far outweigh the upsides (with the only upside being a short-lived ego boost)

Just update your position once you get into the seat.

I never posted anything before. Its a small MM regional reneged to a very reputable buyside firm. It should be fine if I just block everyone from the old company tho? I feel like I'm overthinking too much maybe?

If your ego is really that important then go for it but the downside far outweighs the upside

2 risks to posting

  1. Old firm notices (Impact: who cares)
  2. now you're a  LinkedIn guy (impact: no coming back from that, and in 8 months you're writing "5 lessons reneging taught me about leadership 🚀")

Genuinely what do u have to gain from posting? There is only downside here. It seems like u already have ur mind set on posting and are just trying to justify it to make u feel better
