Losing Hope
I made the huge mistake of interning this past summer at a PE shop and did not receive a return offer.
Now I am trying to scramble to find a full time job in IB or PE and it has been downright impossible.
I am completely losing hope.
Any advice?
Breaking into IB will be significantly easier than PE right out of school, and probably a better career trajectory to gain that sell-side experience anyways. Have you spent a lot of time talking to current bankers who went to your school? Easy place to start to get momentum, advice, and info on job openings / how to pursue.
Bro you’re still in school. There are people scrambling to get FT even after graduating in this market.
Stop the self pity and man the fuck up. Do what it takes.
Sitting around saying I am losing hope when you’re being picky with the top .5% of the jobs that exist straight out of school.
Just last week I talked to two MDs (MS/JPM), one started with a 33k a year job graduating in 2008 from a target. Another started his career “counting shit” and joined IB at 32. Both made MD 10 years.
Men do what it takes.
