Ah, the journey to land that dream role in finance or consulting can sometimes feel like swinging through the jungle without finding the right vine to grab onto. But don't let the setbacks dampen your spirits! Here are a few actionable steps based on the most helpful WSO content to help you navigate this tricky terrain:

  1. Networking, Networking, Networking: It's not just about who you know, but who knows you. Utilize LinkedIn to connect with alumni from your school who are working in NYC in finance or consulting. A personalized message goes a long way. Remember, it's about building relationships, not just asking for a job.

  2. WSO Networking Guide: Dive into the WSO Networking Guide if you haven't already. It's packed with strategies on how to reach out, follow up, and make meaningful connections that could lead to referrals.

  3. WSO Resume Review: Consider getting your resume reviewed through WSO's Resume Review service. Sometimes, a few tweaks by someone who knows what firms are looking for can make all the difference.

  4. Stay Informed and Be Ready: Keep up with the WSO Company Database to stay informed about firms and use the WSO Interview Prep resources. Being well-prepared for your next superday could turn the tide in your favor.

  5. Consider Smaller Firms: Don't overlook boutique banks, smaller consulting firms, or even startups. These can offer valuable experience and potentially more responsibility early on.

  6. WSO Job Board: Regularly check the WSO Job Board. New opportunities in finance and consulting are posted frequently.

  7. Stay Positive and Persistent: The finance and consulting fields are competitive, especially in NYC. Every rejection is a step closer to your offer. Keep learning from each experience and refining your approach.

Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Your determination and resilience will pay off. Keep swinging, and soon enough, you'll land on the right vine.
