Mckinsey vs EB IB

I have no idea how I ended up here but somehow through dumb luck have landed lateral positions at both Mckinsey and a EB.

I have no idea what I want to do long term. Both roles seem compelling but would welcome people’s ideas and thoughts.

Take the EB offer, better exits, and I'd assume better pay, and whilst WLB will be worse, McKinsey isn't known for great WLB either (albeit hell of a lot less sweaty than any EB). Also, if you change your mind, it will be way easier to lateral from an EB to McKinsey than the other way around.

Have had a few friends close to me make the jump from banking to consulting and absolutely loved it + the WLB. Haven’t looked back. I’d do what you’re passionate about, if it’s consulting than do that. MBB in itself is very prestigious and looked at highly in all lines of businesses. Will prepare you well.

Believe it or not, the WLB does not matter much to me (at least right now). Currently in IB and work 70-90 hours a week with some weeks going 100+.

Truly don't know what I'm passionate about - IMO we go into these industries to make money and enjoy life. I'm more passionate about providing for my family down the line than I would ever be about a job. With that said, I have no idea what the right next step is...

From a family perspective, I’d say the Partner’s in consulting have better family time while still having plenty of money. I’d say family time + money is a huge sell looking back. Obviously anyone runs the huge chance of burnout so would do what’s more of your interest long term.
