NYIF Financial Modeling Courses
Anyone have any experience or heard anything about the quality of the financial modeling courses at NYIF? I'm also interested in how it's viewed by hiring managers, etc.

Haven't heard of NYIF - we are partners with Wall St. Prep (super solid program) and have negoiated a discount for WSO users. 15% off any package and 35% off for the live IB Boot Camp classes if you sign up with a .edu address.

Best of luck, Patrick
A friend of mine was sent to NYIF by his bank while working MM DCM, so I'd guess it's pretty solid.
Hi Izzy,
My name is Andrew and I work for NYIF. When I was in college, I always felt that the most important part of a class was the instructor teaching it. So, I thought you’d like to know who’s teaching the Financial Modeling class: Erik Tiltmann, a veteran financial consultant here in New York. You can read his full bio by clicking his name on the Financial Modeling course page. Erik is a very nice guy and works full-time on Wall Street, so his class will give you lots of practical knowledge to use on the job. As far as our reputation is concerned, we were established in 1922 by the New York Stock Exchange and are currently owned by the same parent company as the Financial Times, which gives our certificates some weight.
Anyway, I hope this is helpful. Thanks so much for considering us and let me know if you have any questions about NYIF as a whole or this particular class. Good luck in your search!
Andrew
There's a number of financial modeling courses, it's tough to decide on one. Does anyone have any experience with NYIF, Wall Street Prep or Training the Street? I'm interested more in public, instructor led courses (not self study). appreciate any insight from people who have taken these courses
Anyone heard of NYIF or NYSF? (Originally Posted: 04/17/2013)
Has anyone ever heard of New York Institute of Finance or the New York School of Finance? The latter advertises on WSO but I can't find anything on either.
Any ideas about how reputable and worthy the courses are?
I'm also curious to hear responses to this. I'd also want to know what people think of Training the Street as well
For the latter, it seems as though it's a somewhat selective program that you pay for, which theoretically will give you training and then "on the job" experience" with a boutique investment bank afterwards. You go through maybe 3 or 4 stages of phone interviews with first a representative of the program, then some individuals from the bank you'll work with.
It seems like a good experience but the price tag is huge... that being said if you're having that much trouble getting an internship, it might not be a bad route to go (provided you have the coin).

hiring managers look down on these courses. they are a complete waste of capital.
better spent investing it in the market, mate.
