Odds of Finance Job out of MBA Program

Hello everyone,

I was recently in a top 10 MBA program that is well known for its finance program and took a leave of absence. I am approaching 30 years old, background is in the military. I have been working in a job related to what I did in the military while on my leave of absence.

One of my concerns about returning to finish the MBA are the odds of actually getting a job in finance. I attended a finance career information session during my program, I think the focus was on IB. I remember them telling us that for summer internships with blue chip companies, the odds were something like 6 students accepted out of 150 who applied. If those odds sounds right, then I'm wondering if it's really worth putting in the time and effort for such unlikely odds, especially as someone with no finance background.

I would appreciate it if someone could corroborate those statistics or other further insight into how competitive it is to get a summer internship.
