Professional golfer looking to break in
Hey Guys.
I'm a new user here and would appreciate any input about breaking in. To give you a little background, I graduated Fall '10 from IU Kelley (Finance Major, 3.96 GPA). I played golf professionally (Korean PGA & Various Mini Tours) for the past 2.5 years, so I lack corporate internships/experience. I've reached out to and met about 40 bankers over the past two months to gain insight about the field and to seek advice on how to break in. Most of them have advised me to target Boutiques, since BB is really out of the question for me, given my lack of experience and also the fact I'm not a student anymore. Is cold calling Boutiques really the only way for me to break in? Would you focus on trying to land an internship or a FT Analyst position? I'm looking to break in as soon as I can. What would you guys do in my situation?

I had a similar issue with baseball. I'd try and use golf as a networking tool as much as possible. Just look at how many guys on Wall Street play tennis, for example. All of ISI group is a giant tennis team. Same thing with golf.
With 1-2 years good work experience and solid GMAT, I think you would be an excellent B-school candidate. And you could certainly break in after that. perhaps you won't even need the work exp, not sure
