Quit my FT gig, should I take it off my resume now?
So I quit my full time gig in consulting -- turned out bad, etc...(yeah, i know some will want to flame me) . Should I take it off my resume as it has only been 6 months and I got to find new work now?
Thanks in advance!
What other excuse would you use to compensate for the 6 month lapse in work experience?
Thanks for the question.
Will have to make up something, like was traveling, couldn't find work, etc. I have a great GPA and graduated from a decent school, so that could potentially compensate, idk.
I guess the question is what looks worse, quitting after 6 months or not getting a job to begin with.
Be wary of background checks. Pretty sure it'll pick something up
It's much better to keep it. There's nothing bad to leave after 6 months, you can find many excuses/reasons to leave after 6 months. I left after 6 months a FT before I find something else (hated the job, no time to prepare for other interviews, etc.) and I could find something else...
@ DeltaNeuter what was the attitude toward your short stint by the people with whom you interviewed subsequently?
Nothing special. People just ask me why, I said the truth, that the role was not really what I expected, I started looking for new positions, I had interviews but was difficult to do all the interviews and at the same time being at work. So I quit my job to prepare for other interviews.
Most of people told they understood my point. I think it's important to say that you started looking somewhere else while you were working and that you were already in some processes when you left. It's better than saying you quit and then started looking for a position because with the first situation it shows that you "priced" the risk when you left (you were already interviewing and could have chances to get another offer).
