Recruiting is depressing and discouraging

Freshman at a non target here… Been wanting to work in IB since my senior year but never really had the highschool grades to get into a target, turned it around senior year and have done exceptionally better since. I’m starting to learn more, and I have an internship this semester at a search fund, so that helps. But the more people I talk to, the more I realize how impossible my goal is. I hate seeing how more prepared some kids are and their resumes is just straight up depressing. Makes you ask yourself - what am I doing wrong? I am trying my all time hardest, working my ass off in school, studying basic technicals/interview questions and involving myself in every finance related club on campus, but I am afraid that just isn’t enough. Does anyone feel the same?

This. I nearly pulled out of an interview process after the second round because I somehow convinced myself that there was no shot I’d advance and ultimately get the offer. Ended up getting the offer. Non-target as well and I honestly did not commit to pursuing IB until my junior year. You’re in a great spot, non-target or not.
