Restructuring Consulting to IB Infra

Hi all!

I’m currently exploring a move from a tier-1 Rx consulting shop (think A&M, FTI, Alix) to an IB Infrastructure group (EB; think Laz, Roths, Evercore, etc). Does this move make any sense?

The pay in Rx consulting is fair, and the hours are actually very good. However, I’m concerned that markets will stagnate in the coming years as a result of a stronger economy

I did some IB internships during school, but have only been in Rx consulting since going full-time 3 years ago. From what I’ve gathered, EB Infra groups are notoriously over-worked, but the pay at Associate level is definitely better than what I have now.

Is the lateral move worth it, or should I stay for a bit longer and maybe explore some other opportunities? I think my long-term goal would be the buy-side, but unsure if that would be possible if staying in Rx consulting.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
