Resume and Networking

Hey, I am a sophomore and I go to a target and have a GPA > 3.0. I think that I can pull it up to a 3.0-2 this semester. I have been networking pretty hard this semester and was wondering what I should do if I am asked for a resume. Should I give him my current one with my GPA on it, put an "expected" GPA (I know kinda useless) or just explain about it. I was actually hospitalized and sick for like 3 months but decided not to drop out of school- and this destroyed my GPA. Would it be good to explain along with my 2.8 GPA?

So when you typed "> 3.0" you meant " 3.0" right - since you say 2.8 at the end of your question. Basically, if you don't have a GPA on your resume, I will assume that it is under 3.0 (possibly just under like a 3.2, but usually under a 3.0). Given that, it doesn't really matter whether you include it or not but for the fact that if it is on your resume it will definitely stick out...especially as a soph, assuming you don't have much quality experience to offset it.

In this situation, I would just leave it off of your resume until you can get it up to at least a 3.0, of not a 3.2 or better. I wouldn't include any notes, or excuses as to why it is what it is or why it is not on your resume, just leave it off. If they care what it is or why it isn't on your resume, just be confident about it and up front - don't make up excuses, or blame things - you were sick, your grades slipped and you are confident that they can get right back above a 3.0 - if it is during the semester, you can mention how you anticipate A's in your courses already or some such thing. The important thing is to not be bogged down on this point, and just explain it and move on to better aspects of your resume/candidacy. If you worry about it/if you complain about it or don't know how to handle it, the interviewer/contact will not be able to get beyond it either.
