rounding up a 2.9 GPA
Im currently a freshmen at a non target university trying to find a PWM internship. My first semester gpa was a 2.9. I know really low, had troubling adjusting..hopefully should get a 3.5+ during my 2nd semester. Should I round it up to a 3.0 on my resume, or would 2.9 not matter for PWM? Any tips on finding PWM?
Don't even put it on your resume. Serious.

Well let me put it to you this way since you don't seem convinced.
Don't round it: don't bother listing it on your resume, leave it blank. Anything below a 3.0 should be left off (after rounding). Recruiter sees your resume, looks at school, then looks for GPA, sees nothing and throws it in the garbage pile.
Putting it on: Exactly the opposite, sees the 3.0, thinks for a minute, decides to look over the rest of your resume and decides you're not half bad. Puts you in the interview pile. I never worked at a BB in their PWM office so I'm not sure if they do background checks/require your grades but rounding up to a 3.0 is pretty much required if you want a shot.
You automatically close a lot of doors if you don't put your GPA on your resume, so take the chance, round it and deal with it later if it becomes an issue (most likely won't, PWM isn't as selective; if you can make phone calls and deal with people and do administrative work, you're good.)
Depends on the firm (BB, MM, or Boutique) and any GPA criteria specified in the job description. Also, what is the GPA exactly (to the hundredth's place)?
I know somebody from a target school with a 2.7 gpa who lied and put 3.0 on his resume. After he received the offer, they asked for a letter that stated he was in good academic standards (2.7 is considered good... a hard engineering program). He was lucky the letter didn't even mention his gpa... so it's a risk. 2.9 is not 3.0 (its like a 3.9 will post 4.0... not the same thing).
If you put 2.9, you are screwed. If you put 3.0, it's still low and you may be screwed. If you don't put your gpa, you may be screwed... if your resume is strong, it won't even matter... if it's not strong, hope the recruiter likes your resume... if wouldn't even put if it was this low...
Try to network with some PWM professionals
Don't worry, by the time you start sending out resumes I'm sure it will be at a 3.0. List it in either case, but be prepared to explain it and emphasize your passion for wealth management, finance, etc
