Santander Corporate Banking

Hey All,

I applied for a summer 2025 position at Santander CIB for a Corporate Banking role and I was placed for an interview in the GTB division of the Corporate Bank Arm. I am super excited about this opportunity, but I cannot find information about their recruitment cycles outside of IB at all.

I enjoyed speaking with my interviewer, we hit it off about traveling and she seemed impressed with my Commercial Banking and PE internship experience. I also brought up how the GTB division has had good growth outlooks from Santander quarterly reports, and it would be great to contribute to it, plus other ways to show I care etc.

Just curious if anyone else knows anything about recruitment timelines and if I get lucky enough for a second interview, when I could expect to hear back. It has been two weeks of radio silence since the interview, and my school and current internship are really picking up with a potential LBO, and midterms, so just trying to figure out how to budget prep time for this and a couple other RB interviews coming up on top of my other priorities. Also, I am just impatient and anxious because I am most excited about this one.

Thank you for reading!!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights regarding recruitment timelines and interview processes:

  1. Recruitment Timelines:

    • General Timeline: For many banks, the recruitment season can extend up until November/December, with some even continuing past January. This means the entire recruitment season is still ahead of you.
    • Interview Stages: It's common for firms to keep interviewing candidates over several months. For example, some firms may conduct interviews from October to November, and even beyond.
  2. Interview Process:

    • First Round to Super Day: Typically, the process involves 1-2 first rounds or phone screens followed by a Super Day, which can consist of multiple interviews. The timeline from the first round to Super Day can vary, with some banks taking a few days to a month to move candidates to the next stage.
    • Response Time: After an interview, it can take some time to hear back. For instance, some candidates have reported receiving Super Day invites as far as a month after their first round.
  3. Specific Examples:

    • London SA 2023 Timeline: One candidate mentioned receiving a phone call for a first-round interview just an hour after applying, while another noted that firms will keep interviewing up until November/December.
    • Los Angeles IB SA Recruiting Mini-Guide: Networking typically kicks off in January-February, with interviews starting around end of March/beginning of April. Some firms, like BofA, tend to go super late, such as in June.

Given that it has been two weeks since your interview, it is still within a reasonable timeframe to expect a response. However, considering your busy schedule with school, internships, and other interviews, it might be helpful to continue preparing for other opportunities while waiting to hear back from Santander CIB.

Good luck with your recruitment process and other priorities!
