Slide deck to an interview?

For a bit of background I come from a non-target uni and have less finance experience than many other candidates. Would it help to bring a short slide deck (5-10 slides) for a potential deal that I can walk interviewers through to stand out?

i can promise that no matter how good you think your deck is, your asshole will be ripped to shreds once the MD takes a look at it. It’s just a fact of life. Fish swim, dogs bark, and IB juniors get their assholes ripped apart.

Nahhh. You can mention that you're happy to provide a redacted work sample if they ask you specifically about your modeling/powerpoint skills, but in the 20+ interviews I've done since graduation for various jobs I've only ever had one situation where a Partner was actually interested in seeing a model I built in my current role. Largely speaking if they want to test your modeling / presentation chops they'll just give you a modeling / presentation case study.

Instead of bringing a slide deck to an interview, how about you walk to your nearest bar and have a beer? Back in my day when they used to let me do interviews, I would look for the exact opposite of squids like you. One time an absolute cheesemonger that I was interviewing whipped out his computer to show me his Apple DCF model. Prior to laughing him out of the interview room, I made sure to spit on his keyboard. That's when HR shut me down from the talent acquisition side of things.

It's a waste of time. There will be no time for you to do that. Sometimes, at assessment centres (the EMEA version of superdays), you will be asked to prepare a presentation. Unless explicitly a part of the process, just skip it please. They will otherwise thank you for the effort, but say that they can't deviate from the qs.
