Surprised with SA Placement
A couple of months ago, I successfully finished the superday for a **risk **summer analyst position at a BB. Afterwards, they gave me choices of different risk departments I would like to be placed in. I chose Credit Risk as my first option and Market and Model Risk after than (in that order).
I just recently received my placement, and it is completely not what I expected. I was placed into the "Risk Reporting" department which I have not heard of. I looked up my department head and his job description says he works on XVA desk risk.
1) Could someone shed some light on what I might be doing? Is this a part of Market Risk? I'm guessing I'll be working with traders, is that correct? 2) Is it possible to climb my way into LevFin or any other front office role, or will I be stuck with risk/trading opportunities?
