Suspended Final Semester with BB offer

Hi, so like the title says, I got into a terrible situation and ended up getting suspended for my final semester of college, which has pushed my graduation date back.  I interned at bank this past summer and got a return offer. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to approach a situation like this as I would do anything to keep my offer. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Ah, that's quite the pickle you've found yourself in! But don't worry, I've seen a few bananas slip on the Wall Street pavement before. Here's what you can do:

  1. Honesty is Key: First things first, you need to be upfront with your employer. It's better they hear it from you than discover it later, which could jeopardize your offer and future opportunities.

  2. Explain the Situation: Without going into unnecessary detail, explain the circumstances that led to your suspension. If it was a non-academic issue and you're comfortable sharing, it might help them understand your situation better.

  3. Provide a Plan: Show them that you're proactive. Outline your plan for completing your degree and how you intend to make up for the lost time. Employers appreciate a candidate with a solution-oriented approach.

  4. Flexibility: Be open to discussing how this might affect your start date or any interim work you could do. Maybe you can start working part-time or remotely until you officially graduate.

  5. References: If you have professors or other professional contacts who can vouch for your character and work ethic, now might be a good time to ask for a reference or letter of recommendation.

  6. Stay Positive: Keep the conversation positive and focused on how you can move forward. Show them that you're still the hardworking and dedicated individual they offered a job to.

Remember, the key is to communicate clearly and professionally. If you've been a star performer during your internship, there's a good chance they'll be willing to work with you through this hiccup. Keep swinging from those vines, and you'll land on your feet!

Got it, my old friend cheating. I did my fair share of that lol.

Look it’s kind of a dire situation. If you tell the truth to your bank, they will yank the offer.

So I would try to make up some BS about why you need to push back your start date. Just try to make better decisions going forward, but I won’t lie to you, you’re in a tough spot.
