Tech Internships?

Hey guys does anyone know if the larger tech companies have any good internship roles that are non technical but business/finance related? I know some people leave IB and jump over to corporate development type roles after their 2 years in IB, but what's available if you're intersted in this straight out of college? For instance I've seen some strategic finance roles at Dropbox, but would also be open to other strategy/corporate finance type roles. Has anyone worked in a similar role? Any insight would be much appreciated!

Speaking from experience - I wouldn't necessarily target the larger technology firms... They usually go for people who are interested in finance but can code and have a tech-y background. If you really want to go somewhere and learn and have great exposure, try to find a gig at a startup tech firm. Maybe in product or literally anywhere in the company - should be somewhat easier to find a startup internship through a school alumni page or something than it is to get a SA position at a BB. Once you're there, they will most likely have you working form like 10am to 4pm. However, if you're on this website, you most likely don't mind/don't shy away from longer hours. Show up early, leave late and make sure that you get to know as many people as possible. Most startups do not have a specific finance department so it is usually either the CEO or a one-man CFO team. Work your way in with this person from 8am-10am then from 4pm until whenever they need you. Start show casing how good your are with finance and this will be an easy way to get something. Can be as simple as "Hey, I'm ___. I'm really interested in finance and I was wondering if maybe I could sit with you for a few hours to see what you do?" Then prove yourself and regularly check in to see if they can use your help on anything, Make sure you are very aware of 3 statement models, how the 3 statements tie together, how to calculate whether or not and investment generates a positive return, have an idea of the basics behind a corporate operating model and that you are excellent with excel. If you know these things you will be a huge value-add to this startup's finance department. If you don't mind me asking, what year are you in school and what finance experience do you have?

Going into third year this fall, worked at a HF in first year and currently at a small mid market IB shop in my city. Im Canadian and still looking to recruit for IB next summer - some processes have already finished here, but some are yet to kickoff. Trying to learn a bit more about tech but its difficult to really consider other options given the fact that banking recruiting is so accelerated these days. Thanks for the info tho I appcreiate it.
