Toronto - Big 5 Technicals

Entering my sophomore year. A couple of the upper years that went through the processes in BBs in NY echoed that it was not as technical-focused as B5 processes, and that it was more about culture/fit over techs.

At a boutique this summer so I will be trying to get as much of hands on experience I can get, but do any of the IBers in Toronto in B5 have any advice for the technical rounds?

Thanks

(PS, if you can speak a bit about the off-cycle process and whether it differs from the normal SA process, that would be great, too.)

Canadian technicals are noticeably harder than those in the US, especially for on-cycle. US focuses more on behaviorals and pedigree and as such, the hardest technicals in my experience were akin to standard technicals in Toronto. Not sure why it happens, I think it's partially because there's more competition in Canada but also a bit of an inferiority complex among Canadian bankers to their US counterparts. I found that the prestige of the bank was inversely correlated with the difficulty of the technicals.
