Transitioning from Commercial Insurance to Consulting

I am an associate-level insurance broker early in my career with one of the F500 brokerages, and currently on a client-side team in a role focused on insurance advisory and placement (primarily P&C with some D&O, E&O and Cyber experience) for large, complex accounts and insurance-specific M&A due diligence. While I am enjoying and committed to the work I do, I am keeping my mind open to opportunities either within the (re)insurance industry or outside in the next 5 years - somewhere my current skillset and experience can translate and be valuable. While I have seen posts on strategy consulting firms recruiting experienced hires from various industries (finance, tech, supply chain etc.) for their skillset, the insurance community doesn't seem to be represented (except for some actuaries).

Does a demand for experienced (non-actuary) insurance professionals exist within consulting circles? Can they be recruited as subject matter experts, or is a fresh career change post-MBA the more likely route?
