Two offers for internships what to take

I am a current junior at a non-target who got fucked during SA recruiting. 7 Superdays and struck out on them all. I did end up getting a regional boutique SA position that doesn't have return offers. They are decently notable in the area I am in and have done some pretty cool deals/ have decent deal flow mostly Buy/sell side stuff.  I also have an offer for corporate finance at a F100 company, it doesn't lead to an FLDP though but does have a return offer. Part of me wants to bet on myself and try full time again and I'm guessing having banking experience will help with that. Any thoughts?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some considerations for your decision:

Regional Boutique SA Position:

  • Pros:

    • Relevant Experience: Provides direct banking experience, which is valuable for future full-time IB recruiting.
    • Deal Flow: Exposure to buy/sell-side deals can enhance your resume and skill set.
    • Notable in Area: Working with a notable firm in your region can help build a local network and reputation.
  • Cons:

    • No Return Offer: Lack of a guaranteed return offer means you will need to recruit again for a full-time position.

Corporate Finance at F100 Company:

  • Pros:

    • Return Offer: Provides job security with a guaranteed return offer.
    • Reputable Company: Experience at a Fortune 100 company can be impressive on your resume and offer a broad skill set.
  • Cons:

    • No FLDP: Without a Financial Leadership Development Program, the growth opportunities might be limited compared to other corporate finance roles.
    • Less Direct IB Experience: Corporate finance experience is less directly relevant to investment banking compared to a boutique SA position.

Recommendations:

  • Bet on Yourself: If you are confident in your ability to secure a full-time IB position, the boutique SA role might be more beneficial due to the direct banking experience.
  • Risk Mitigation: If job security is a priority, the corporate finance role with a return offer provides a safer path.

Final Thoughts:

  • Networking: Regardless of the choice, continue networking and preparing for full-time recruiting.
  • Skill Development: Focus on developing skills that are transferable and valuable in both roles.

Given the current date, Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, you have ample time to make a well-informed decision and prepare for the next recruiting cycle.
