What are my chances?-

Hey guys. I am an exchange student here in the US (Atlanta area). I am studying finance and this is my penultimate year (I am finishing in May and then completing my last year from September at my home school). The Visa I am on, J-1, allows for a so called thing Academic Training which basically lets me get an internship (paid or unpaid). I don't have anything lined up for the summer and I would love to stay here and work until I go back to home (that time period would actually be 5 months - I am willing to work for free for all this time) to finish my degree. My question is, how reasonable it is to get such an opportunity out of cold calling/emailing at a botique or some small firm? Maybe a start-up. Paid/unpaid? I feel like I have a good profile and I am technically competent too. Thanks.

Look through all the other forums for tips on securing a boutique internship. You may have to blast out a ton of emails, but you can certainly land something if you put in the work. Took me until June my junior year, but I got a summer gig. Grab one of the many lists of investment banking boutiques and start emailing, bud.
