I've been at a brokerage firm as an advisor for just under 3 years, but before starting, I didn't realize how monotonous the days would be. Closing "sales" on advice comes easily to me, but I am very bored. I'm in my mid 20s and my 40+ year old coworkers ask me questions on investing. I feel that my knowledge level is being wasted as a retail financial advisor. I have a passion for investing, equity analysis, portfolio management, etc, but I need a position where I actually have to think, rather than sell investment products. Any ideas for a new job? If you have a reputation. And you are confident in your investing abilities. Try starting your own asset management firm. Start small with your co-workers' and family's money and grow from there. You will most definitely have to think; while running your own asset management firm.
My other problem is that I relocated to a new state where I have no organic contacts. I would be subject to a non-compete period of 18 months for any current clients.
