Worth it to take the risk?

Hey guys,

Just received a verbal offer from a role that is slightly more interesting, pay a bit more money, and is located next to where I live (big city); however, the HR mentioned that they can only send me the official offer letter after I go through a background check and successfully pass it.

I also signed a return offer in August at a BB in a FO role (but not a prestigious role like IB/S&T/ER, etc); however, that offer is located very far from where I live (small regional office), pays a bit less, and is slightly less interesting (but a similar role to new offer).

The only problem with going with the new offer is that the new offer doesn't seem to be officially set in stone and I would have to renege and give up the safety of my BB offer (as the new company would have to contact the BB during the background check so the BB will know).

Would love to hear your guys' advice on whether you guys think it is worth it to take the gamble and risk for the new offer (that isn't 100% guaranteed/set in stone) or just play it safe and stick with the BB for now?

Thanks so much, guys! Happy Holidays.
