Would your work for your dad?

So I'm current ~2 years in to IB at a decent M&A group, and PE is not of huge interest to me. My dad is a F500 C suite and I could go plug in to a strat finance type role at his org and additionally have the opportunity to live abroad thru that avenue, which I feel like could be pretty valuable life exp. pre biz school. The blocker for me is stigma associated with working for your dad's company but given I went to a good school and have managed to break in / making it thru banking for 2 years might alleviate that partially. What do you all think?

I went to work on my own/at a different company; meanwhile, my twin went to work for my Dad. Although I am doing very well (early promotions/yearly raises), nothing beats nepotism. He has been handed basically exactly what he wants every time he asks (whether it comes to location, pay, promotions, etc.). If I were you, I would take the advantage you have. Don't let other jealous people try to prevent you from experiencing your blessings in life!

Also, you can always achieve an inflated title from your Father's company and leverage that to go somewhere else in the future if you really want to branch out on your own after.

This is the way. My dad could never pay me a $200k salary, so I don’t know first hand, but you have to play the cards you’ve been dealt and say fuck the stigma. Just be ready to work harder than the rest and I imagine you’ll prove yourself quickly.

Echo this. Plenty of examples of shit nepo kids who don’t know how to do the job but also some examples of nepo kids who are sharp and well respected. You have a good background so I don’t see why you can’t excel in the job. Combined with connections that is a synergy if I’ve ever seen one

Some people will think you don’t deserve it. Some people will be jealous. Who cares. Would you let peoples perception of you stop you from getting a leg up?

If you’re planning on going to business school anyway you can let people talk for two years before you move to greener pastures. In 5 years no one will care, in 10 no one will remember.
