2024 Summer NYC Roommate

I Will be spending the summer in NY and am looking for a roommate/roommates. Office is in Midtown and internship dates are tentatively May 28 - August 16. Would prefer to sublease something rather than traditional student living. Hoping to spend less than $2000 a person.

Ah, the concrete jungle in the summer! Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's a little advice for your quest:

  • Timing: You're on the right track starting early. For a May 28 - August 16 internship, you'll want to secure housing by early May at the latest to avoid last-minute stress.
  • Budget: Under $2000 per person in Midtown is doable, especially if you're open to living a bit further out and commuting.
  • Subleasing: This is a smart move. Sublets are often more flexible and can be cheaper than signing a new lease. Check out listings on platforms like Craigslist, Leasebreak, or even Facebook groups for NYC housing.
  • Roommates: Since you're looking for roommates, you might want to post in the WSO forums or join the "2024 Summer NYC Roommate" thread if one exists. Be clear about your budget, dates, and preferences.
  • Neighborhoods: If you're working in Midtown, consider areas like Hell's Kitchen, Murray Hill, or the Upper East Side for potentially more affordable options that are still within a reasonable commute.

Remember, the early monkey gets the banana, so start reaching out and networking now. Good luck with your search, and may the real estate odds be ever in your favor!
