I used to be boxing first, but I gotta admit I slowed down in my following of the sport when all my favourite fighters all suffered a string of losses (GGG, Lomachenko, Anthony Joshua). The matchmaking is extremely frustrating (no Crawford vs. Spence, AJ vs. Tyson Fury etc.)

I watch MMA a lot more now and frankly it is quite refreshing. Better matchmaking and better/higher level fights more often. Plus you get to see more aspects of fighting play out. I think it is a lot more interesting now and more sophisticated.

You nailed it. It’s the matchmaking aspect that is key. I too acknowledge the UFC’s ability to make the best fight the best no matter what, and consistently. Boxing has questionable judges, sanctioning bodies, and path to championships.

Absolutely, I forgot the judging lmao. Although MMA/UFC has questionable judging sometimes, it pales in comparison to the 118-110 card by Byrd in the first Canelo/GGG fight.

MMA and UFC fan. Boxing is sort of boring to me, but I like the big fights and am interested to see if Ben Askren can beat Jake Paul.

Im a member of a Muay Thai gym but haven’t been in a while. I used to do all parts of MMA a couple years ago, but now just want to focus on triathlon and Muay Thai. I just got my 2nd vaccine last week so now have no excuse to miss Muay Thai, but maybe will just incorporate some work on the heavy bag into my schedule.

How long have you been doing MMA/Muay Thai? I used to be a part of gym when I was a kid but haven't done it in a while at this point and would really like to get it into it again.

I started training in 2011. I trained for about 200 hours then. Beginner kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu. Then I went a few years without instruction until 2015 when I hired a personal MMA trainer to train me in cardio and kickboxing / ground game. I joined an MMA gym in 2016 and in 2017 started sparring in MMA and Muay Thai. 2017 - 2018 were heavy MMA training years and some days I was putting in 3 - 6 hr workouts, depending.

In late 2018, my Muay Thai coach and head MMA coach split ways and I went with my Muay Thai coach, so I don't do Jiu-Jitsu anymore and haven't trained a lot of Muay Thai recently. Most of my training recently has been triathlon focused and 2019 was a heavy triathlon training year.

Muay Thai is awesome. I like the knees in the clinch. My brother trained for a little while but never competed, he only sparred.

Yeah knees are great training

I love boxing but share the same sentiments. I flew to Miami for Canelo-Yildirim and left disappointed.
Would love to see Crawford Spence but that's never gonna happen. Very sad to see that the top talent

isn't fighting each other. Love what's going on in the UFC so I'll be sticking to that for now.

Damn. The worst part is that they just started bringing big name boxing events (Canelo & GGG) to South Florida. That wasn’t a thing pre-pandemic and it might go away with the pandemic as well.

I was in team sports up till college, also did combat sports when I was younger + now that I'm working. To be honest with all the woke bullshit that's dripped into all the major sports leagues in the US, UFC is pretty much all that's left to me at this point.

Also, soccer sucks.

I hadn’t realized it but you’re right. There isn’t any of that woke nonsense in combat sports. For this, I must thank the gods.

There’s actually more to follow with MMA versus Boxing at the moment. The best boxers in the game mainly fight B/C-level opposition and once in a blue we get a real treat, the best versus the best.
