Any of you want to go into politics?
I think I’d want to down line, once I’m set up financially. Something similar to what Mitt Romney did, make decent amount of money and get into politics. Don’t know if I’d do it on national level. I feel I could be more effective at a local level and actually push for positive change within a city and focusing on specific neighborhoods. What about y’all?

Absolutely not. I’d be awful at it, and I’m already jaded and disillusioned with American politics as is- I don’t need to confirm what I believe to be true and lose even more hope.
I get that, but what about on a local level? You wont be on CNN/Fox every night, and you can actually get things done if your good/have a little more money than the guys around you.
I think even if I were willing, I wouldn’t succeed in it. I don’t have the temperament for it. Plus the big things in politics that I’m really fired up about are at the state/ national level (UBI, revamping taxes, background checks for gun owners- which btw is coming from a gun owner).
The state/ national level is where the action happens and where the issues people really care about are discussed. However, as someone who wants to do real estate development, I feel if I can get in on the local level, I can really push for change in down trodden communities. That’s something I care about, it’ll also have an effect on people’s daily lives and be good for the city as a whole. On the other hand, if I can become wealthy/influential enough, I won’t have to run, I can be a private citizen and do what I want to do. Perhaps not in NYC, but in smaller surrounding markets that could use a boost.
That actually makes sense, in LA the planning commission and RE development scene seem very intertwined. Actually maybe too intertwined because there's a lot of scandals. But it makes sense because you'd interact a lot with politicians at the local level and that's how you could try and create the change you envision.
I work in tech, so the only good I could do is try and regulate it more which would kill off my job prospects and make my friends unemployed. I'm kidding.. halfway.
