Best Laptops Running Virtual Desktop (BYOD @ JPM, UBS)

My bank has a BYOD policy, requiring employees to log into a virtual desktop (similar to MyWorkSpace at JPM or Citrix Workspace at UBS). In the office, a PC is provided, but at home, you access the virtual desktop using your own setup. I’m currently trying to decide which laptop to buy.

Since heavy computational tasks are handled by the server hosting the VDI, the laptop itself doesn’t need significant processing power. Based on this, I figured a ThinkPad E Series should be sufficient. However, I’m concerned I might be overlooking some key aspects of the VDI’s requirements.

I already have monitors and other peripherals at home and won’t be traveling much, so weight and screen quality aren’t major concerns.

Does anyone have experience with virtual desktops and could recommend a suitable laptop?

The virtual environment pretty much runs identically on any laptop. It takes up absolutely minimal resources (by design). Only thing is it kind of (idk how) uses some sort of interlink for Zoom/Teams with the main PC from what I've found.

So yeah any laptop will be fine. But if you plan to use a personal laptop for literally anything else, invest in a half decent one because it's really nice to just have a laptop that works and has some longevity. Doesn't really have to be a thinkpad if you're only using it at home, there are better value deals from other manufacturers at that price range.

I like Lenovos - just get one with 32GB RAM so it lasts for a few years

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
