Lmao it’s no different than normal dating trends in that city. Maybe the only thing is that I’ve IB people tend to date other people in finance or other high paying jobs like tech (prevalent in SF) which is just a matter of professional proximity.

this is how it normally goes:
1) Minority dude lands in a new country, mostly as student 2) starts living, looks around campus/city and sees lots of women walking around who seem different than in the home country where they are from 3) looks at all the men these women date and realize - hey, they don't look like me - why is that? 4) guy goes home and posts various threads online asking why (enter race here) can't date white, blue-eyed, blonde women but (enter different race here) can do so 5) flame war with racial posts starts or he gets ignored
here is the information you need 1) they don't look like you because Indians are rare in the West (except in the UK). not many women know lots of Indians, hence they can't find or date them 2) many immigrants don't know how to deal with women. nobody taught them and they end up looking creepy. don't be a creep. 3) work on yourself instead of spending your life online. go to the gym, get ripped and go back into the dating scene when you bench enough. 4) consider dating people who understand your culture, religion and the rest. 5) I doubt that 10s in NYC are easy to land for any guy, regardless of race 6) the vast majority of people I know prefer to date within their own race, religion, and culture. this is what I have seen and I could be wrong. All the indian women I know all have Indian husbands and not white husbands. nobody makes a thread about that?! If you have a problem with brown/black/other race women, then the problem is most likely with you. don't look at women as a race, look at them as people.

Not sure if this is true though. There might be some cultural differences on how to go about approaching women. Or maybe just most people posting this kinda stuff are the shy ones.The immigrants I have met came mostly from non coed lifestyles. women/men life their own lives and don't always engage with each other. parents don't teach them how to deal with dating, how to deal with women etc.
Posting these kinds of threads on WSO is the kind of person who wouldn't know how to deal with women IRL.

Why do people of Indian descent refer to themselves as brown people when those from South India are darker than black people?

I have a few Indian friends who identify as "black". When I asked why they said not everyone who is black (in the US) is African American. Which makes sense.
Can't say anything about colorism in places, but would like to learn more about it.
Fair point. I'm generally curious about the colorism aspect because I know it's a thing in North India and South India and wonder if that carries over into the States for these "brown" kids

It doesn't matter what you look like, if you can LISTEN to a girl, maintain conversation, and simply not creep her out - you will be successful in the field. It's not hard whatsoever, but these incels on here really make me worry for the younger men in finance.

As the first poster said, the fact that you work in finance is irrelevant - it won't change anything on the dating scene, which is why I wonder why you say that being able to talk to girls will make you successful in the field. There's literally no connection between the two, unlike what OP thinks.
