Can racist language be construed as self defence

I am in no way condoning that fat dumb Karen of Central Park however the situation leads me to speculate if ever racist or even homophobic or sexist language could be used as a form of self defence.

illustrative scenario eg... A feels harrassed / intimidated by B and does not know how to get B away from A. A then takes a cheap shot by saying something racist / sexist / homophobic with the intention to get B to walk away. A says this as a form of self defence in a particular situation where A felt under imminent threat and did not have other alternatives available eg calling for help, walking away.

Can any otherwise socially unacceptable language/ behaviour, not necessarily limited to race, ever be construed as self defence?

What if you use a slur to save someone’s life? Say a piano is about to fall on someone who just found a $5 scratcher and you say “Lookout fggt!”. Would you be entitled to a $5 scratcher? or is it a hate crime?

If someone is harassing you verbally, using a slur will only worsen the situation. If you're in a real tricky situation (robbery, fight or getting mugged) it will make no difference. Do you think that an armed mugger would stop and say "that's rude - I'll walk away with my dignity but not your wallet". If anything, you'd get an extra shank just for good measure.

No wtf why are you giving her a pass for being a racist. She clearly said African American man and wanted him gone. She is a racist, her actions are inexcusable and defending her is being apart of the bigger issue.

I am definitely not defending that racist bitch. I hope she is on food stamps for the rest of her life. We all know her behaviour is frankly fucked up. This is 2020 NYC ffs. I am trying to understand how these ppl can think they can get away with it. She knew she was being filmed and she kept openly lying.

What kind of fucking backwoods Alabama question is this? Agree with the above, why tf are you giving her a pass? Do you sympathize with her or something?

Bro she used the man's race as a weapon against him. She could have gotten him killed. Never, ever will racist speech be tolerated, let alone be used as self-defense. I'm glad she's getting what she deserves.

I wish I had couched my question better. I definitely do not agree condone or support that bitch. lock her up and throw away the keys instead of her spewing venom in the community. I am still disturbed by Netflix’When they see us’ bizarrely Central Park too. I am not on her side or in anyway sympathetic to her. However I struggle to understand why she continued her vitriolic racist lies repeatedly when she KNEW she was being filmed.

Racist language or any language is not a form of "self defense."

Don't know where you are from, but in the United States of America you have what is called a right to free speech which means you can say whatever you want to whomever you want for any reason. Obviously others are allowed to interpret your speech and you can be shunned for saying things that are deemed unethical/inappropriate like racist slurs- saying such things may lead to losing a job as in the recent example of this lady in NYC calling the police requesting help because she felt threatened from a black man (for no good reason as she later pointed out).

Language you can use for self-defense should generally not anger the aggressor even further.

In the case of CP karen, she was making a threat and knew it, not defending herself.

My favorite part of this website compared to all others is the verified user star next to the name. It's very useful to let me know which users to pay attention to and which advice to safely ignore.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

Hi all. I regret that I did not phrase my question better to make it clear that it was speculation and that in no way whatsoever do I sympathise or condone the vitriolic conduct of that horse faced bitch of a Karen. I still do not understand how she thought she would get away with it cos she knew she was being filmed but who cares what she may have thought .

I want to delete the question but don’t know how to on the app, esp in light of Minneapolis incident which now magnifies my speculative question to the heights of stupidity and insensitivity.

The fact is America has a race problem. In no way whatsoever do I sympathise or condone racism.

Nah fuck that

  1. She wasn’t scared at all. If you watch the video, she actually moved closer to him and he told her to back away

  2. She didn’t need to repeat “African American man” multiple times. If she saw me and were scared, she wouldn’t say “there is a white man, a white man, a white man I’m so scared”. She knew exactly what she was doing and any white person can tell you that.

There is literally never any situation in which it’d be acceptable to say that kind of shit at or about a black man, a gay dude, a woman in the workplace, whatever the fuck. This is 2020 nyc for crying out loud
