This might not be the most poignant argument, but many religions are explicitly against infidelity, Furthermore, from a societal standpoint, the end result of people engaging in polyamorous relationships on a large basis would be even more fatherless children, more STDs, loss of loyalty as a virtue, etc. And despite what certain media outlets and celebrities who advertise their "open" relationships may want you to think, most polyamorous people are freaks - we're talking about a cabal of landcow women and men who look like they'll start to take estrogen if they run out of soy-based groceries.
