Country Music is for People Dead on the Inside

Art is the reflection of one’s soul and music gives great insight into people. Country music is for people dead on the inside and just need noise as they can't be left to their thoughts. People who enjoy EDM and House music are on the other end of the spectrum.

If you don’t listen to or appreciate house, then you’re boring as fuck!

This guy gets it.

I tried to give a banana, but they haven’t let me give bananas for 5 days, which doesn’t make any sense.

Country is the one genre I don’t enjoy. I like some of Johnny Cash stuff and some of the older guys but it just sounds like pop music with a guitar and southern twang.

Yeah songs with twang are the worst for me. I generally hate country and in public gatherings or crowded cars, as introverted as I am, I will exclaim “please no country.” And I grew up in the south and live in the south, so it makes for interesting situations. I just generally despise the genre and beat and instruments and everything. Friends are like “what do you like”? I’m like seriously anything else - rock, rap, house etc.

Country just doesn’t have a place in my life. Are you supposed to get crunked up on country? No. Have solid beats for the gym? No. Have good beats for jump rope? Nope. There is always a slow beat and it’s depressing, every twang makes me cringe.

I agree. It’s just so cheesy and shallow but not in a way where you can have fun with it or to listen to it at the gym or even as background noise. It’s cheesy and shallow in the worst way.

There's some modern country that I like, good to drink a beer to, something like Sturgill Simpson or Charley Crockett, not anything too intense or pop-sounding.

Couple of thoughts here:

1. Thanks for the rebuttal. The first post was… something.

2. Modern day country is a disaster. I really love the old stuff. Hank Williams, George Jones, Patsy Cline (I’m gonna single her out as one of the top 10 female vocalists of the whole 20th century, hands down), Glen Campbell, etc. If you want a bit more recent, George Strait is a very decent pick.
3. I agree with Pierogi that Outlaw Country (Simpson, Stapleton, Childers, et. al.) is where all the real talent is at today. They aren’t singers in my view; at their best, I view them as modern-day country bards.

EDIT: it’s always about the story in country. She Got the Gold Mine… I Got the Shaft, I’ve Got The Pictures… She’s Got You, He Stopped Loving Her Today, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, Sixteen Tons, Jolene.
