Covid is a hoax

I'm just putting it out there. Covid is really not as bad as people think it is and all the precautions have done way more harm than good. People are literally giving in to slavery because the government tells us to do so. I hope that WSO is one of the places on Earth that still respects people's freedom and that this post will not censored. When covid fist came in the news, we were all scared, and understandably so. However, we're half a year in now and people are still literally brain dead and can't think for themselves. The economy went down and suicide rates are higher than ever. Furthermore, covid is not going away any time soon, and a proper vaccine will also take years to develop. So unless everyone enjoys their slavery, you should speak up and spread the word. Covid is a hoax.

If you think it's a hoax, it's a hoax. If you don't think it's a hoax, then don't think it's a hoax. Believe what you want. But wear a mask and social distance. You think it's unnecessary: you might be right and you might be wrong. But it doesn't really matter. Just listen to what the actual experts with actual legitimate degrees in the field have to say, they definitely know what they're talking about and you probably don't. Putting a little piece of cotton or fabric on your face and not being able to hug your friends definitely isn't slavery though, so just do it regardless. That's just my take on the issue. If it doesn't hurt to follow instructions, then you should follow the instructions.

Controversial

Yeah, it's always lovely to hear a nice conservative person explain why wearing a mask is "succumbing to slavery" while cheering the fact that the federal government is sending unmarked agents to literally kidnap people off the streets, denying them any kind of due process or the presumption of innocence.  We have an actual descent into a tyrannical government, one of the few things that we are absolutely supposed to be protected from, but it's the masks that are the important thing to fight.

And lets not forget, the GOP is the inheritor of the literal, actual slavers.  It's always rich to hear someone who adheres to a party that would still be fighting to bring back slavery if they thought it would be possible, tell us about how minor everyday inconveniences are equivalent to being the property of another human being

Maybe you are in Texas or Florida not in most states society has been shut down. It’s more than just wearing a mask. Also your “experts” happen to not oppose the BLM protests, arguably the most notable defiance of the social distancing rule. Any thoughts?

Funniest

Calling COVID a hoax and comparing medical precautions to slavery....

What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Aggressive take... but I somewhat agree to an extent. I’ve know 100+ people who have gotten COVID and only one person has required hospitalization (fully recovered). I also got it myself I am pretty sure of and wasn’t very sick. I agree with the earlier comments though, although I’m not necessarily worried about it, a lot of people are so I just wear my mask and do what I’m told to not create unnecessary issues.

This is a novel virus. Just because you're ok now doesn't mean there will have been lasting damage done to your body. You won't know that until down the line though.

exactly! i only feel bad for essential workers who HAD to work and got covid because of that. if you got covid bc you or your close ones chose to be stupid, IT’S ON YOU AND YOU HAD IT COMING

Are you drunk? (it's after 5 on a Friday, so I might be, but this post is still rediculous.)  A friend who was the lead PM for my department and went on to become CIO for a multi-billion dollar asset manager ended up on a ventilator.  He's 50. His junior who's now the lead PM there and under 40 had a nasty few weeks.  There was no confirmation because it was early on, but this thing can be nasty.  I get the desire to go out. I'm sick of my apartment, but spewing random, medically incorrect BS is counterproductive.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

I rest my case on getting rid of anon posting in Off Topic.

Shit, I will learn Drupal 8 just to make this feature if the WSO team is willing. I’m sick of this.

Edit: btw I’m not trying to say “silence the people without critical thinking skills”, because we need stupid people in the world. But if you’re gonna shitpost, at least use your username and not Prospect in Other or whatever.

OP - if you get COVID, you deserve to die and go to hell along with your entire family and friend circle with it. But maybe you should live while those close to you should die.

I hope I get banned for this comment.
