Do You Choose the City or Does the City Choose You?
I guess this is kind of like the chicken or the egg argument, but I'm curious to see how people respond.
From your personal experiences, have you chosen where you would like to live first, then go about finding a job in that area, or has it been more along the lines of taking the best offer that comes your way and then moving to that city?

Hey, I said 3 out of 5 would be acceptable. But I'm just going to take that paragraph out, because it's not relevant to the question at hand.
I've done both. My i-banking job out of school was entirely driven by the opportunity. After that job, I had a very specific geography for personal reasons and found a job that fit in that geography. For my third job, I repeatedly told myself that I was only going to look for opportunities in warm climates. Go figure, at the end of the day I found myself in a cold-weather city that I had never even visited before.
Early in your career, I'd definitely recommend pursuing opportunity rather than geography. Once you're in a position to make a permanent career move, then you should definitely put a LOT of emphasis on geography. I'm not just talking about weather, I'm talking about opportunities, people, access, cost of living, etc.

I tried to think of a witty response, but all I can say is good one and I hate touch screen phones. Me and my giant thumbs would make a lot less typos with a Blackberry.
