yeah exactly - I'm glad you wrote this as I was slightly confused too

Either the new Tesla Roadster or the Lexus LF LC (bonus if they end up remaking it as an electric car).

"Love doesn't exist, that's what I'm trying to tell you guys. And I'm not picking on love, 'cause I don't think friendship exists either" - Owen Wilson

I haven't heard or read much about it recently, although supposedly it was announced it would come to market by the end of this year (not sure if this will be pushed back due to the virus).

Here are some quick facts if you're interested: https://www.thethings.com/get-to-know-the-2020-tesla-roadster-with-thes…

This is my Dream car as well. I don’t think there’s anything better all around, especially for the price. The Turbo S is a great competitor if you want something softer and just as fast.

Some people may quote track times of the GT3RS being faster but I would bet quite a lot of money that for 99% of this forum, the limiting factor is their driving ability.. not the difference between a Turbo S and GT3RS

GT2 RS is always special too. And the 993 GT2, aka the “Widow Maker”. I’m a big Porsche fan. My dad had a 912 while I was growing up. Sold it, bought a 1984 SC. Then he wanted a car both him and my mom could enjoy on long drives to San Diego so he got a Panamera 4S. The Supercarrera was cool and fun, but no ABS/ no traction control/ no power steering/ and suspension purely focused on performance makes driving it get old as you get older

To be able to own a mint low mileage unmolested S2000 again. And no, prob will never happen.

Still got mine, difficult to sell it. Old but still good.

Just crossed the final dream car off my list. Driven everything else I want (911s, Bents, McLaurens), now I own her and my regular weekday vehicle. Needs some mods for long term offroading but so far this has been a blast taking to the beach.

The addiction is you never want to stop buying and driving these cars. So, for me it goes on forever.

I dislike driving and traffic. So any Transformer that self drives and gets me out of a traffic jam will be my dream car. No, I have not made the purchase.

Now that's a beautiful machine. I dream of getting one like this, but I would have it detuned for road use:

Why This Ferrari F40 LM Is Worth Every Penny Of Its $6 Million Price Tag | CarBuzz

Old school: 1965 Shelby Cobra Backdraft New school for show: Bugatti Chiron would be fun to open up on a highway but can't go wrong with a red Ferrari. I like the Enzo models - little different look to them. For every day: Black Mercedes G Wagon

Few players recall big pots they have won, strange as it seems, but every player can remember with remarkable accuracy the outstanding tough beats of his career.

Pagani Huayra coupe with the gullwings doors is definitely one of my favorites since Horacio Pagani was working at Lamborghini and left. I was surprised that it wasn't included in the roadster. Zonda Cinque Roadster or Lamborghini Veneno is my favorite. I highly doubt any of those cars will ever be for sale ever in life. Zondas are illegal in the U.S.A.

"It's okay, I'll see you on the other side"

It'd be pretty difficult to put gullwing doors on a convertible by design, since the roof has to fold away. Would be pretty cool to see a Huayra with no doors bombing around like an off-road Jeep.

Just remember: it's not a lie if you believe it.

Top pick would be a Lexus LFA. Those things sound angelic. Something more practical for daily use would be an M3 or M2 manual. Maybe an RS 6 Avant - always been a sucker for wagons.

And just to toss it out there an Aprilia RSV4 for my 2 wheeled itch :)

Go all the way

For sure dude. My first car was a Subaru Legacy GT wagon manual, loved that thing. Drove like a go-kart. Been a sucker since for wagons - glad the RS6 is finally in the US lol.

Go all the way

You're romanticizing about the material objects commonly associated with the banker lifestyle. I'm deep in the E, applying validation to cells with triple nested conditional and indirect functions then writing my own macros on-the-fly before sending up to my father for comments. **There is a difference. ** Cute of you to adopt the lusory attitude, but it lands you no closer to the prolusory goal. IMO, the best part about being at a capital-T Target isn't the network, or shortcut to superdays...but the peer pressure that drives constant competition because if you're not getting better than you're getting worse. Oh & to answer the initial question, I drove an X5 in prep school and had some fond memories. It sufficed.

Dream- Ferrari LaFerrari

Current- BMW M3 Competition

Sadly, there are just too many Ferrari's waiting for me to own.

The 458 is absolutely stunning. It sucks that you cant just buy it outright, but have to have purchased prior models now. Seems to be Ferrari's new policy, although this is all secondhand knowledge (as a first year analyst I have never seriously considered buying anything from Ferrari).

I have always loved the RS6. Shit on wagons all you want, that car is so fucking practical, drives perfectly, and still rips. Plus it is so low key that many will write it off as a relatively regular car. That twin-turbo charged V8 though.... Makes me drool.

Although not a huge BMW guy, I have always dreamed of owning a E46 M3. This is a pretty generic response, as it is one of the more popular models. Still deserving of the recognition in my opinion.

Ideally, I would have 2-3 cars, while all under 100k a piece, that is truly my dream. I don't see the need for 100k+ vehicles. I am not a racer, I will rarely exceed 100 mph, unless I'm on a track. However a practical car with some nice pick up and a sexy sounding engine would be awesome.

Not to stray to far from OPs, question, but it would be fun to see a thread of the most overrated cars.

You cannot buy a 458 out right. Of course you can.

The E46 M3 was my dream car in 2001. It was my wallpaper on my laptop - a helicopter chasing the M3. Sick.

Porsche 911 GTS, BMW M4, Mercedes AMG GTR, or a Mercedes S63 Convertible. All German over here.

My dream car definitely has to be a Rolls Royce Ghost or Wraith. I can't believe no one has mentioned a Rolls yet as their dream car.

Rolls Royce is a passenger car for people who have a driver

I have some favorites:

M2, M3, M4, M5

Lotus Evora 400

Lamborghinis

Ford GT

Bugatti Chiron

Old NSX and new NSX

1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso

1965 Shelby Cobra

Ferrari Enzo

LaFerrari

Jeep Tomahawk (I like the sleeper concept)

I'm probably forgetting some.

I drove the Lotus Elise years ago and had a lot of fun driving that car. It is like a street legal go cart. The interior is bare, but the skidpad is an amazing 1.03g so handling is superior. This car doesn't have a lot of go compared to others, but the new Lotus Evora is a lot quicker. Not super quick, but better.

I like the handling aspect as it is so much fun and you can just kill it on corners driving around or going to an overpass or exit. I feel like the drag strip specialist cars like the GTR are great, but you just can't exploit that power and go of the car without immediately being in 'you're going to jail' ticket ranges from the cops.

Of course, with a supercar you have everything. It would be nice having a 10 car garage and just being able to choose. I feel like at some point between having 1 car and 10, you have to make the decision to not donate to charity and be selfish for whatever reason. Or at least thats the rationale that comes up in my mind. Is this purchase really benefiting the world? Maybe you believe in the high end artisan that makes the Ferrari leather and feel it is supporting him. When spending so much money on cars, I think there has to be a thought process there. I probably couldn't ever go to the race track as I've heard its just a massive money pit. Is it worth it? Maybe. It all sure looks super cool. I've been into cars my whole life. They are incredible machines - we live in incredible times.

yes - this - I forgot this on my list, but have heard this is an AMAZING car to drive

dream hypercar would have to be the Enzo - Pure thing of beauty.

I'm amazed that we've seen two McLaren P1 comments, but since we're all daydreaming about price is no object cars, nobody's mentioned the big daddy.

If I could have any car I'd take a McLaren F1. Weighs less than a Miata, 3 seats, decent cargo space, and oh, did I mention the 600HP V12? I love that everything is manual, it doesn't even have ABS. Also, for a 30 year old car it still looks modern. Car guys get what it is, but for others it's just a 'nice looking sportscar.'

From a more attainable (not $12M car) standpoint, I'd take a Cadillac CTS-V wagon with the manual in black. There is something awesome about having a C5 Corvette station wagon that nobody's expecting. I'd also like a Caterham.

Current car: ND Miata in candy apple red.

Oh,I don't want it, because having a F1 team follow you around all the time is a pain, but everybody should check out the Renault Espace F1. It is bonkers, and I love it. Frankensteining a F1 car to a minivan must have been something they came up with at a bar one night.

"karypto" I see all of these whips @Rutgers.

I'd be amazed if you saw a McLaren F1 at Rutgers (Presuming the New Brunswick campus, but even less likely at Newark or Camden) Given that they made 106 of them. Just go back to the grease trucks and order another fat sandwich. (I like the Fat Darrell)

Always wanted a rolls royce, but I love the 458 Ferrari and Lambo Gallardo.

I think if I had to choose a few cars, I would probably do a:

Daily Drive: Mercedes GLE43, G55 or Porsche Cayenne S Sports Car/ Friday/Saturday Car: Porsche 911 (4/4S/Turbo) or Ferrari F8 Classic: Either an 60-70s Mustang, or maybe an 50s-2010s Mercedes or Rolls.

Current car is a MB GLC

I like the Gallardo too. I feel like the tech is better in Lambos than Ferarris as well.

Anonymous Monkeythe Tesla Roadster with the SpaceX package, but who knows how much of a premium that would be. Probably close to $300k. Let's not forget it is supposed to hover about the road surface.

johnny-mnemonic

Grail car: Koenigsegg CCX - Beautiful styling, unique doors, amazing twin supercharged V8 and it's manual.

More likely: Used Huracan. I got to ride in a performante at the country mart and it's an absolute beast of a car. Just keeps pulling even past 150. Sounds absolutely amazing.

I love the performante. Have to wait for about two years before I get one. All about finance when it comes to cars just like art timing is everything.

I'm bored in this quarantine so random questions are in my mind. What is your dream car? and have you purchased it already?

Tesla, yes

Ferrari, waiting till next year.

1972 De Tomaso Pantera, or a lime green GT2 aremy top two. Dream is to have the Pantera and whatever the latest and greatest Porsche model of the past decade or so is when it's time to buy. Would also love one of those 60's and/or 70's landyachts like the '64 Impala or '72 Eldorado. Some other American classics I love are the mid-60's Rivieras, '69 GTO Judge, '70 Chevelle and El Camino, mid- to late-60's Mustangs, and GT40. Not American, but love the '67 Lamborghini Miura (even tho im not the biggest Lambo fan). Some of the Ferrari's of the "Miami Vice" era are pretty sick too. For some newer cars, obviously the GT2 (and GT3 and 918) are all great because I love Porsche, some of the Ferrari's, McLaren's, and the GTR are nice too. Some of the tricked out RUF Porsches are fresh too. New De Tomaso supercar is kinda nice, but if I'm buying a DT, I'm scooping up a '72. Hope I make a lot of money and can afford this stuff.

Dayman?
