I seriously doubt the viability of that article. There is no way that he would have been given a 90 million dollar contract if his season was in jeopardy in any way.

False actually. Irsay said, even before all this, that he would have given Peyton the same contract even if he was retiring because he's given the franchise so much. He'll play til he's 40+ regardless of this season's outcome so its still a brilliant investment and he's the most valuable player to his team by miles.
