Gay Traders

Let me start out by saying that I am not gay; so don't throw monkey shit at me.

Now, with that being said, I'm just curious as to whether any of you have encountered any gay traders during your careers? Trading seems to be a very testosterone driven / aggressive industry so I would suspect that few gay men would be interested in trading.

Has that been your experience ? Do you know any gay bankers ? Is the industry largely homophobic ?

Gordon.GekkoI hate to validate this thread with another post, but why do you even care?

I know a few MD's who are closeted gay/bi, but it's quite obvious because they're still single at 45 give or take, never married, not dating girls, etc. Even some old dangling bachelors are often bi as well. I also know several gay analysts in NYC. Not homophobic, but it's not such a good idea to be openly gay in this industry.

How on earth do you know if they're gay or not? Have you asked any of them? I would guess the vast majority of gay men, at least the ones I know, are masculine and you would never know they were gay unless they told you.

And yes, I know a few traders, associates, MDs, etc. and they're closeted for the most part.

LOL.

Lots of gay guys are hyper testosterone driven and aggressive and could kick our all of our asses. Not all gay guys are stereotypical gays.

If I have this correctly:

There is a "Top" i.e., the very masculine " straight" appearing guy who does the fucking. i.e. the "man".

Then the "Bottom", who is sometimes more feminine who takes it up the ass. i.e, the "woman".

While we're on the topic, do you think attractive gay people are at an advantage too? I have a gay friend at Harvard and he's so adorable that I can't help but hug him and treat him like a puppy. And he's not one of those flamboyant ones - so it's almost impossible to tell that he's gay from a straight person's point of view.

I often hear on WSO that attractive female candidates get hired just for decoration purposes, which by the way I seriously doubt..
